some spring in my step

working on some large scale florals for a show that opens in Eastern Market May 18th. I am super excited to be working with a new partner to help promote Detroit Art Press. Along with myself I will be showing the work of a few other local artists. stay tuned.

new year !

new year- new ideas- old ideas I still hold on to. maybe some good maybe some are just super shitty but I like them anyway. it has  been a year or two of change and now I am ready to settle back into my studio practice and get my ass in gear. started a new business,  Detroit art press which is keeping me busy and excited- bought a house, kinda, the house is a total gut job and I am ready to put my mark on it and have a place to land. 

anyway it is out there now on with the show

 Sometimes you don't feel like going to work and sometimes you do most the times I do but even when I don't I go.  I go because I feel like I have to . not because I want to. but I know when I go I'm gonna get there and l am going to settle in .I have a cup of coffee.I sweep the floor.  I watch the ligh shift. I look at magazines. I make a soundtrack. And then I start to work.

big mess , what it looks like most of the time. periods of work, crazy messy . some times good things come out of it. or just extra trash. i guess we all make messes. then we clean them up. in the process we learn some stuff about ourselves and what we can do. i am always willing to try new tools, materials and process. some of my best work has come from really fucking something up only to pull a gem from the wreck. get messy, it's life.
